Bonjour,

Merci baucoup pour le email avec les photos - nous pensons que vous etes formidable!

We had our Eisteddfod on Friday, so we have sent you some pictures of our special day. We are all dressed in something red to represent our national colour, and the colour of the Dragon on our flag, and some of the girls are wearing traditional Welsh costumes from long ago.

We have included a video of us singing "Calon Lan" on the CD we are sending you - this is a traditional Welsh song, and one that is very often sung at the rugby. We have added a video of us singing our national anthem, "Mae hen wlad fy nhadau" which means "The land of my fathers is dear to me" or "Le pays de mes papas est tres importante a moi" (or something like that!).

We have a half-term holiday this week, so we will not be at school - hooray!

We all loved the sound of your carnival.  We have a special day on that day too - it is called Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Tuesday, and we all make lots of lovely pancakes to eat.  We don't have any fireworks or bonfires though, and we don't have any parades unfortunately - it sounds like so much fun!

Our teacher has had a lot of trouble trying to upload the videos of us onto an email so we have decided to put it onto a CD instead and we will post this to you.  Mrs Vincent has written out a transcript of what we have said because we sometimes speak a bit quickly and we are worried that it will be difficult to understand.

We like football here too - our two local teams are Cardiff and Swansea and there is a very big rivalry between the supporters! One of our pupils in this class, Charlie Gedge, trains with the Swansea youth team and is hoping to be picked to go to the Academy - it is very exciting for him!

Did you watch the rugby match on Friday? Mrs Vincent went to watch it and she said that the atmosphere was incredible and that it was one of the best games she has been to.  Thank you very much for letting us beat you - we might still win the Championship for a third time and make history now!

We hope that you have lots of fun at your Carnaval :)

Love from,

Your friends at Llangattock School
